Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy in Europe – Strategies for Overcoming Hurdles to Progress
National Representatives Meeting. Gdansk.
Friday 13th May 2011
The 2008 meeting in Amsterdam demonstrated that significant progress has been made in most countries but significant barriers remain. This half day conference will review these with the aim of developing strategies to make progress in countries in which there has been no or limited progress. National delegates will present their further progress and there will be a series of workshops and debates focussing on issues such as engagement with private health providers, quality assurance systems, issues in grading and professional development, expansion of local programmes.
Key stakeholders will be invited to help with these discussions and a conference report will be prepared by a medical writing team.
The meeting is a satellite to the EASDec meeting in Gdansk which will have a joint symposium covering hypertension and diabetic retinopathy. Gdansk is a city of great historic appeal with excellent communication links around Europe and an exciting tourist destination for partners.
Preliminary conference organising committee:
Simon Harding, Deborah Broadbent, Ken Swa, Elzbieta Bandurska-Stankiewicz
